The Lebanon County Choral Society has long been a sponsor of quality choral music in the Lebanon area. In the past decade or so, we have expanded our mission to include education, advocacy, and outreach.
Beginning in 2013, we launched a Youth Chorus to offer a quality choral singing experience to students (public, private, or home-schooled) with more challenging and historically significant repertoire than their school programs are likely able to provide. In contrast to most community youth ensembles in the area, dues are kept quite low ($15 per season plus a one-time wardrobe fee) and are waived entirely for those parents who request it.
Shortly thereafter, we added a free Music Day Camp for Lebanon youth. This camp is open to Youth Chorus members and non-members alike. The schedule includes an introduction to choral singing, a clinic by a professional musician, games, crafts, lunch, and a snack.
In 2021 our artistic director introduced our Young Conductors' Program, a free, individualized semester-long clinic for high school or college conducting students. This was in response to a need expressed by conducting students for time in front of a live ensemble with the opportunity for feedback from both the performers and the director.
